While
usually not considered life threatening. Severe menstrual
disorders can disrupt a woman’s life to the point
of significant dysfunction. There are many different types
of menstrual disorders.
It
is reported that about three-quarters of all women have
uncomfortable physiological and psychological symptoms as
they approach menstruation. This condition has been classified
as PMS, or premenstrual syndrome, and can range from mild
to severe. Other menstrual disorders include amenorthea,
which is the absence of menstruation; menorrhagia, or heavy
bleeding: and dysmenorrhea, also known as severe menstrual
cramps.
Some
of the physical symptoms that appear most often during menstruation
may not be classfied as disorders, but they can cause much
discomfort. Bloating, breast tendernes, temporary weight
gain, gastrointestinal distress, headaches, rashes, muscle
and joint pain, fatigue, gingivitis, heart pounding. Hot
flashes, hyper-sensitivity to sounds and smells, agitation,
and insomnia are a few such symptoms.
The
question many doctors are not uflly able to answer is why
some women experience severe menstrual problems while others
seem relatively unaffected. Researchers believe that the
bulk of menstrual disorders stem from the fluctuation in
hormones and hormone levels. This is called estrogen dominance,
where estrogen hormones over power progesterone hormones.
Other
hormones have been implicated. As one example, women who
have ovarain cysts have been shown to have high amounts
of androgens, or male hormones, in their systems. The hormone
prolactin, when present in high quantities in women who
are not pregnant or breast feeding. Can inhibit ovulation
causing amenorrhea. Either too much or too little thyroid
hormone can also cause menstrual problems.
If
the body were able to maintain more regular hormone levels
during menstruation, perhaps many of the signs and symptoms
of menstruation could be diverted. This is one area in which
I believe Noni drink may play an important role.
One
of the earliest reported uses of Noni by the ancient healers
was for “womens’s issues.” Little did
they know that there is a substance in Noni called bromelain
– No called proexeronine – a substance that
during the 1950s was highly researched by large pharmaceutical
companies as a treatment for, among other things, severe
menstrual cramps. After funding was no longer available,
the research was disbanded. However much of Dr. Ralph Heinicke’s
work about xeronine came from these original studies. In
the xeronine process, proxeronine combines with other natural
nutraceuticals, such as proxeroninease. This condition is
believed to bolster cellular health.
In
my survey, of the 2,573 women who consumed Noni drink to
help reduce painful and uncomfortable menstrual symptoms,
78 percent reported successful results. |
